Samuel Johnson Prize

Did anyone watch this programme?

I find it quite difficult to read lengthy non-fiction books, but was inspired to read almost all of these. Whether I will or not is another matter.

The one about life in the 1950s would be a great Xmas gift for anyone who had their formative years then, but also a good read for anyone interested in 20thC British history.

I would very rarely pick up a book with the subject matter of the winning volume, but the way the judges talked about it made it sound absolutely fascinating. I just need a holiday to read it.

Won by a reporter - book about living in the green zone in Iraq. It looks great and I will be buying it.
