Why?
Why are there no Christian, Jewish, Zoroastrian, Bhuddist or Hindu etc. suicide bombers? Just asking.
Different attitude to the sanctity of human life? Just guessing.
There was but they all got blown to bits before they could work their evil by the moslem ones!
Cos we are chickens and only murder when we can save our own sad backsides. e.g. The Crusades
Ever hear of a fundamentalist athiest suicide bomber?
it's probably because of the religious view of suicide, if it's frowned upon and seen as a sin in your faith then it's probably not a good idea.
But even in the faith of suicide bombers - isn't Islam totally against violence?
I may be wrong, but committing suicide is also a sin in Islam. Muslims are quick to point out that anyone killing in the name of Islam is not a true Muslim.
As I pointed out on another thread, it's a psychological thing more than a religious one. People who have no hope for themselves are quicker to take hope away from others. In Palestine, for example, suicide bombers are hailed as martyrs for the cause: surely the only way a consistently oppressed people can feel any kind of empowerment? They've lived so long in violence that it has become a part of their culture.
That doesn't mean I agree, mind you; but if you look at most of the places suicide bombers regularly come from, there is an underlying history of chronic oppression and violence. The UK boys were, perhaps, plugging into this to fuel their own courage, if you can call it that.
What religion were Kamikaze pilots?
Shinto, dear Hox. Shinto.
