why?
why can't I log in abctales? it seems that only with a trick of mine I manage to visit the discussion forums - i click go then a page saying proxy error informs that I cannot visit the site then I click the back button to return to the former page the one before the fatal error one and then again forward and I "catch" the page of abctales with strange font and available only the forums not the log in and the my abctales services... I am proud that I can do at least that but I would be content if I could enjoy more of abc

having an understanding of all thing technical - from the error message rendered my own diagnostic indicates that the site is totally shafted

Not quite. We're back up again and running smoothly now! There have been problems with the main server (the discussion forums run on another server at the moment - that's why they're accessible when other bits of the site are down!) - but it's back up again now and I hope it will remain so. We will shortly be moving server (before September at the latest) and I hope we'll have a more secure service. It's a farce, I know, as we pay a bomb for this server but it's also the nature of life in techie-land. Ho Hum etc.

Bad luck, mostly. It started playing up when I was out of town. Steve called last night at about 5.30pm and I made a call to Energis, who sorted it out (but apparently not very well).
This morning I've sorted it out myself (if you want a job doing properly, etc.) and I'm pretty sure it'll hold.
