"Oh my Darling Ketamine"
Stuck to a mirror and growing slimmer,
bordering on a perfect line,
pale and powdered, mystically shrouded,
was my new love, Ketamine.
She whipped my cortex into a vortex,
trapped my sense of space and time
in a matrix. This dominatrix
was my true love, Ketamine.
Oh my darling, oh my darling,
oh my darling Ketamine!
She made my every mental part shake
and killed my heartbreak, Ketamine.
Oh my darling, oh my darling,
oh my darling Ketamine!
Her weird reality was somewhat better.
I won’t forget her, Ketamine.
She held me firmly on our journey
through the ether, to cloud nine,
then back to childhood where, in a wild wood,
we met Lord Krishna in a shrine.
We watched dictators and Viking raiders
dance and breed and intertwine
in a kaleidoscope, beneath a microscope,
and watched reality re-align.
Oh my darling, oh my darling,
oh my darling Ketamine!
She kissed my brainwaves and showed me peace.
Oh, what a release, sweet Ketamine!
Oh my darling, oh my darling,
oh my darling Ketamine!
Her weird reality was somewhat better.
I don’t regret her, Ketamine.

Nice re-make of an old tune Archie. I used to play it on my harmonica and the only response I got was that my old hound started howling as I played. Needless to say I gave up playing shortly thereafter...
Regards,
Jacques

That's a shame, Jacques. You could have kept it up and we could have been a great double-act. My singing inspires a similar response to your harmonica-playing.
This one is a sequel to "Oh my Darling Borderline"...

lol...If I accompanied you on the harmonica we could call ourselves the Norwich Brain-transplant...

Though the subject matter makes me slightly uneasy, it's well written, full of skillful wordplay; striking psychedelic imagery and humour.
Reminds me a bit of The Stranglers 'Golden Brown', comparing a drug to a woman but I suppose also the fact that it incorporates elements of a love poem and spiritual journey gives it that added depth.
Also brought to mind Bob Dylans lyrics like 'Hey, Mister Tambourine man' and I could imagine it being
performed by a Sixties rock group like The Byrds or The Velvet Underground.

Thanks, WW, appreciated.
Yeah, I can imagine Procol Harum or someone like that doing it. Not that Ketamine was around in the Sixties, of course.
I'm trying to think of a band around nowadays who might do it, but I can't. Then again, I can't think of many bands around nowadays at all.
Am I getting old, or is music today shite?
That old puzzler...

Just had a listen to Norwich Face Transplant on SoundCloud.
Just genius. Do you write all the lyrics? British surreal humour but with hip-hop beats (I might be wrong about that because my knowlege of music is very outdated). You should be snapped up by a record company immediately. You're like the Ian Dury of Rap (if that's the right term), I think.
Very impressive.

Thanks muchly, that's very nice of you to say so.
Some of the tracks are facetious, while some are more serious. 'Grenwegian Blues' for example is very serious. I suppose elements of it could be called hip-hop-ish, although I prefer to use the term "electronic folk".
Yes, I write all the lyrics and my mate Jamie composes the music. Ian Dury is a major influence of mine, as is Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Those are the two acts I would most like to be compared to.
I agree, I should definitely be snapped up by a record company immediately, but I don't think I will. It's hard work, that is. But I'm doing my best. And there's still time. I'm still a few years younger than Ian Dury was when he broke through, and I ain't giving up...

PS. Mugs abuse drugs...
Archie_Macjoyce | October 20, 2012 - 01:44
I don't abuse them. I'm very nice to them.
jacques07 | October 20, 2012 - 12:34
That's nice, but be warned, they might not treat you as well in return...
