Famous People.

Her Majesty Queen Feeanna on a visit to my back Garden to see some new tomatoes that I had been recommended by a friend. Was very much impressed at the size of the tomatoes we spoke about gardening in generals when she asked me this question. If it were possible which Famous person would you like to meet from the past? Your Majesty I would love to speak to Merlin the magician and advisor to King Arthur. Her Majesty smiled and said you have chosen a man of peace I see. Taking me by the hand I felt the travelling by magic a very strange sensation to anyone that has never travelled in this way before.

The journey ended and I found myself in the old castle of Tintagel in Cornwall. “Come with me,” I heard a voice saying. I followed this man. All that crossed his path bowed their heads then the man opened a large wooden door heavily protected by plates of metal. Come in and let me have a good look at you. I now saw the man’s face. Bright blue eyes a heavily bearded face. Looking hard at me the man spoke, “You are too old to want to be an apprentice your speech is in our tongue but you are not from here.” I now realised that although I understood the man his English sounded strange to my ears.

I heard myself saying, “Are you Merlin, Magician to King Arthur? “Yes I am Merlin but tell me about yourself where do you come from? Your clothes are different and some of the material you wear is unknown even to me. I smiled and told Merlin that I came from the future. “Can you prove what you are saying?” I thought for a moment and took a fountain pen and a notebook from my pocket and watched the amazement on Merlin’s face as I wrote on the paper Merlin’s name and the Castle Tintagel. I gave Merlin the pen and then took a cigarette lighter from my pocket and Merlin’s eyes really did open even wider as he saw the flame from the lighter. “You are indeed a magician in your own rights so what brings you here to me?” “Merlin I have just the one question it has bothered me for a long time. Did you really make gold from base metals?”

Merlin laughed out loud. No magician would waste time on trying to make gold from the base metals. We search for nature’s means of curing ill people or the best way to treat the many stabs and cut wounds of the Soldiers. No I have never ever tried to make gold from anything. Leaving my fountain pen and the cigarette lighter on Merlin’s table I felt the strange pull as I vanished from his sight. Back in my garden Her Majesty was waiting. I thanked her for this wonderful opportunity to speak with Merlin Magician to King Arthur. “Mr. Shaw was he able to answer your question?” I then told her Majesty about my question and of Merlin’s answer. Her Majesty was not surprised to hear that Merlin and any magician worthy of being called a magician would never attempt to turn base metals into gold. Her Majesty left me as she had come in a bright blue flash of light and I went indoors to tell you about my magic journey to old Tintagel Castle and of my experience of speaking to Merlin, one of the greatest magicians to have ever lived. Bernard...this is delightful;-)

I have a very soft spot for anything to do with Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table.

Years ago now, back in the late sixties, I went to see a production of Camelot in the West End, with my boyfriend...now my husband of some forty-five years, and I was entranced. The music is wonderful too, and we both used to know all the words to the songs (in fact I think my husband still does).

Anyway, thank you for taking me on a trip down memory lane with your more than enjoyable story;-)

Have a peaceful evening.

Tina;-)
