Painted Toenails.

I got the shock of my life on going to bed,

My Wife had painted her toenails red.

Ten red monsters were staring at me,

A stranger sight I have yet to see.

Ten evil toenails all in a row,

Watching me wherever I go.

I will not close my eyes tonight,

I am suffering from shock and shiver with fright.

Ten red devils from the wife’s side of the bed,

No pity from them no tears will they shed.

Their attack will come at early dawn,

It makes me wish I had never been born.

I will get up in the middle of the night,

Slowly and carefully I will paint those nails white,

Then perhaps I can drop off to sleep,

Without counting red toenails from a flock of sheep.
