from the ABC set For The Kids

I love country Music
I love a base guitar
I love to hear Lee Marvin
Sing under a wandering star.

I love watching cricket
A tennis match or two
Most of all I must confess
I love watching you.

I love salted peanuts
And red cherry pop
I love hot chip butties
With tomato sauce on top.

I love ice cream cornets
Sticky toffee too
most of all I must confess
I’m just stuck on you.

I love crossword puzzles
Quizzes of every kind
I love the competition
Of exercising my mind.

I love fluffy kittens
Little porky pink pigs
I love furry rabbits
And baby billy goat kids

I love Shetland ponies
Cute little puppy dogs too
But most of all I must confess
The cutest creature is you.

I love Freddy Flintstone
Barney Rubble too
All the cartoon characters
The zany things they do.

I love writing letters
A pretty postcard or two
Most of all I must confess
I’ve loved writing this poem for you.

Beautiful. A deliciously sweet poem dear Val. Every stanza is so heart-warming and it really brought a smile to my face.

These are my personal favourite lines. I do love crossword puzzles and even got a book-token once for being one of the lucky ten picked in the Telegraph Saturday crossword competition. Mind you - that was a while back now, and I still haven't redeemed the token!!

A lovely poem, Val and I can picture the situation so vividly, although years ago now, with my grandchildren.

Glad you enjoyed this oldie Tina, I've so many I wrote just for my Grandchildren, I've forgotten most of them and when I do come across them I'm always slightly surprised by them. Thanks for commenting Val x
