Our wonderful Daughter
The Royal Pavilion
Married there in 2002
The reception was held at
The Queen's Hotel
Registry office amazing room
hottest day of the year
now they do weddings there
One particular photo taken
in the Music room by the golden clock
I think my belated mum
day centre then sang too
the same room
Another all to-gether on the grass
where the new ice rink stands
temporary
Now we have Prince Regent
looking on
as the West Street Ice Rink years gone
Ice hocky players
at which I went at 12 years old
An archway tall says
"Royal Pavilion Ice-rink" in pink
I met a lady asked the way
Tree's that glitter
petite fairy lights on
even a grey squirrel beyond
A caf'e and the restaurant
all beautifully laid
Like a long conservatory
of green leaves hang
As the lady and I chatted
at the entrance of golden lights aglow
ended up having a cup of tea
her name "Ann Terry"
A professional Ice skater
and showed me her book I bought
and she signed
nice to meet another
Brighton ice skater
wonderful costumes on the cover
"Skating On Thin Ice
Was the title
remembered West Street Brighton
ice rink to,
names I mentioned to her
I have now read marvellous story
spins and jumps
and shows of glittering glory
different countries
hard times,good times
accidents to
My Ray took photos of barriers by the rink
that is big and wide
most wear blue boots and not white
Fantastic scenery
of domes breath taking spiers
tapered up into the blue sky
and glistening reflections
of square fluorescent
square flood lights
shining in the dark
on the Pavilion windows
An Ice tractor cleans the ice
coloured penguins
for children to glide along
It's all exquisite
what's been done
an archway says
"The Royal Pavilion ice rink
long banner in pink
The visit to The Royal Pavilion
Is worth it's money in gold
look up to the ceilings
magnificient chandeliers and dragons
stories pictures of long ago
Of which my belated mum
always told me of a sepia photo
she had of adopted Gt or Gt aunt
on her mother's side then
A beauty holding a monocle in her hand
I went along and showed mum and her man
she nearly dropped down with shock
as the picture matched all the sepia photo
from the bric-a brac shop
I lean't it to mum when she got me
go in for extras of
"Noel Cowards" play Cavalcader
Theatre Royal Brighton 1995
and mum in paper we had no experience
But wonderful Brighton I found
the cigarette card
and a postcards one photo of her
a beauty
then print in Flea market
Hubby found "look he said"
thinking he was joking!
I sent away print
and the company in Yorkshire
if good photos will put on canvas
anything animals people sceneries
they choose the colours
so I wove a rug morning till night
gave away family then as 3ft wide
and again card shop of beauties
now near "Jessops" by the clock tower
not till I could get out again
and become spiritually alert
by years going to church
Miss Croker was one of 12 children of
The Ambassador of brazil
Lady in waiting to
"Queen Victoria"
Miss (Nony)Rosamond Croker later m
Sir George Barrow of The Admiralty
once painted by Sir Thomas Lawrence
kissed on the hand by Prince Regent
d 1900
I found out ITV London I Wrote
and described as no DVD recorder then
hubby always said there she is time I
ran in kitchen gone again
ITV They wrote could be her told us of
shop to go in London
hubby and I went by train
only used in background
we showed photo London shop
he never knew who
but both pictures on the floor
Had been there 20 years
pictures leant out as
backgrounds only
all so exciting
we saw to in
"Upstairs and Downstairs
I loved to watch
and on cover book
I had bought me
Surprised to see!
Over the mantlepiece
by Lady Bellamy's photo
Miss Croker
also backgrounds of
"Yes Priminister"
and "Beau Geste"
pictures are used
backgrounds in films
No wonder I love parasol I have
now and fans and a mask
And now crinoline dress
my dream by daughter and hubby
Poem and photo here
"My late extra birthday surprise"! by post
Course I have Prince Regent book

and even lost marvellous
Brighton Regent dance ballroom

skinner_jennifer | November 16, 2010 - 23:10
Hi Julie,
You make the Royal Pavillion sound wonderful, never
been there but would love to. By the way it's good
to see your work again, I've missed your work.

Take it easy Julie. Look you mustn't do it please. You've nothing to prove. Just act your age. We don't want a hip replacement believe me.

Dear Nolan,
Thanks comment, if I
acted my age? I would have
never done the things now achieved
certainly as mine never joins in.
Best time of my life, when I couldn't
do a thing at all once, I do and done
without mine of many bridges had to cross.

All is good, thank you. Like someone has pointed out already, I've also missed your work. The last time I properly sat down and read one of your poems was when Jupiter/Beeme/3leaf used to submit work on a daily basis. I'm glad I read this, made me realise there's only a few good writers that appeal to me like yourself on this site.

H! I am trying to think of an answer?
Just thought as beautiful ice rink there
and scenery, conservatory we had lunch in, and the exact spot where they photoed after
got married, now ice rink.so added the rest, all true. But had asked one of staff manger etc; if could
do poem, thought all may be interested and the
rug was in The Argus once I did, and gave away,
bad photo as not put in colour.Hoped you liked it.
But really I am nobody no connection you get my meaning. One can get cryptic clues, can you explain please. The old girl? you say is living at last,
yep! did use parasol when went to Pride brighton couple years and met friend cafe known years, now in nursing home, and other's, we danced bit show offs, photos taken some asked never saw any. all like parasol.Mum d early hours that morning, wrong call, nursing home we talking love be there. If brave enough may walk summer Royal Pavilion Gardens, beautiful place visit, and all events on.But greatest is vist The Royal Pavilion inside superb?Have all books etc;Brighton particularly Prince Regent of course, and the shop souveneirs, dome and festivals go to.Theatre Royal opposite.Fab place.
I was most shiest person as a child, big family.
So have to put things correct, years and adtes etc; Hope.Without AbcTales
as it states everyone has a story to tell. and all our groups finished by council, never done AbcTales
now to get one reply, and one cherry! is amazing let
alone 6, high readings, hope someone gets something
out of them help them, an the new ones.Eccentric?
Beauty is within.
all the best Julie x Cavalcader.

Just for interest's sake Julie, when you write a poem like this and you start getting toward the end, can you remember how it started off? The first stanza or two. Or even the title? The reason I ask is because I can't.
Maybe one should think of it all more along the lines of a church tea-party? Just a pleasant jabber-jabber. No offence I enjoy all this fun honestly I do.

Reading your stuff it’s lots of fun thanks. They should put them in the Daily Mirror. I'm also just fooling around. Sometimes don't know what I'm doing myself. Who cares? Just happens. Great thanks old girl, never a dull moment!
δ Cheers!

PS. Do you also have a parrot Julie? Mine is Macbeth (Thane of Fife). I'm teaching him the thirteen times table and he's also learning the alfabet, wrong way round too, you know zyxwvutsrqponmlkjihgfedcba I reckon if he knows the alfabet that well he can learn any word name it. He's quick he's faster than me already.
Of course he will have to learn “The Tragedy of Macbeth” off by heart. It should go easier once he knows the alfabet. Maybe I could even teach him to read so he can study on his own. Sounds too ambitious? My grandfather always maintained one can never be too ambitious. “I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition”.
You must also get a parrot then you can teach him your verses and you’ll have company and you can tell him the same stories over and over.
Nolan | November 23, 2010 - 15:18
Who’s this H.R.H. Prince William 'bloke? Is he on TV? Kate Catherine Middleton. Is she related in any way to our own sweet Katie? Can she write poems? Is she beautiful?
They shouldn’t leave you alone at that PC Julie you’ll wreak havoc. Have you got access to a credit card? They kicked me out of my last job for answering spam they said I was putting the world renowned institution into disrepute. Can you believe it? Two silly replies. Spammers complaining. Whenever I’m new at a place no sooner than now, “there have been complaints”. No sense of humour. I’ve got a better platform now!
Bearing up. Soldiering on!

Thanks comments and seeing things differently to me!
But it is quite funny, the way you have put it. Alphabet, I believe is a ph. No never too ambitious,
all comes from the heart? Yes, we had a Mynah bird quite ugly,in his cage but clever, talked always said
"Where's dad along the pub" if belated father gone out,we as large family would say,and course if ill he
should have been in before sun down, something like that. Dad have to have room hot parrafin, those days killed the bird shame! Not sure on Mc.Beth much story.Clever how youv'e put alphabet backwards.I was in a hurry, got to admit even if not many answers on Track,I somehow get very high on readings.Amazing for me,as couldn't do anything? That is a story, kept secret reasons. I have relation in Fife! all been but us.
Must go,for now.Thanks,don't have to read if don't like,I think Mc.Beth was killed.I am just ordinary person,what I mean,trying brighton up the day's.
