Unfound Immortal

from the ABC set Poetry

You never looked, though I begged you
With eyes encrusted in old tears
My words hung sundered in my mouth
Rolling like stones round my teeth

My heart would have caved in
Had I not grasped it with both hands
Struggling to contain it
Stop it leaving my throat

Each time you wandered past me
And my fingers raised so slightly
To drift through the rain of your hair
But I let no touch fall

You couldn’t believe in me
Couldn’t seem to meet my eyes
Though I stood before you often enough
And shuddered with being

Still, it’s never the same as
The touch of the flesh which
Grows softly on bones, meandering
Across a body so corporeal, whole

I’m left sheltered and poisoned
Hung by the nails of fate
To the One who has made me His
Crafted my being to His will

I wait only for the passing breath
That means you have found me
Threading its way on my cheek
And blending your name with mine.

What a departure from the "Bus Tales" CG.

I shall read this one again, so much in it I liked.
regards.

This is a great poem! You captured the love of a physical element so clearly.

Very kind of you, thanks m'dear :) I wanted to see through the eyes of something blessed and cursed by its own immortality, to never feel the love of another (I'm a fan of Peter S Beagle's "The Last Unicorn")

Again this is beautiful, it has a cool beneath the passion feel to it. Still not up there with bus boy though. I think that's going to take some beating or even rivaling in my eyes.
