Undisclosed Guilt

from the ABC set Something Different

Undisclosed Guilt
By Marina Kauffman

A dark shroud veiling the heart
A heavy curtain impeding the light.

The weight restricting movement
A suffocating burden
A severe penalty for the sins of the past.

Punishment; a self inflicted sentence
From self guilt that is not required.
Torturing memories settle in,
Ever-present anguish.
No release; no rest, no peace.

Consequences of defective decisions
Poor judgement being a rigid curse
Resulting in the hollow void reverberating
With the regrets of a tormented soul
No peace, no release, no rest.

A modern day Sylvia Platt perhaps? For this piece is more than a touch depressing, but nevertheless totally brillant.
