Dreamcatcher

from the ABC set Poems

I'll weave a web of wonder
keep the spiders from their quiet creep
their wretched spirits far from my heart's dreams

I'll weave a web of worry
call the ghouls away from silent sleep
mistaken siren call for broken dreams

I'll weave a web with lies I'll sew
their hollow cores not mine to keep
bring haunting restless what-ifs to my dreams

I'll weave a web of wishing
and hope raptures never mine will seep
bright beauty into my forgotten dreams

And once the lights are dark and dead
And once I've weaved up all my thread
I'll hang the webs above my bed
Some to fend off nightmares' sweep
the rest to call sweet dreams.

A very big and warm welcome to the site Isa, with quality of writing such as this you will fast become a firm favourite here i,m sure!
This was really good, well thought out, original and full of imagery. Thought the rhyming on the last stanza was brilliant!
