The London Dungeon
Take me to another place
A world where I can hide
Somewhere where I know myself
And feel my soul inside
Lead me from this ugly mess
This city lacking grace
These streets of dirty words and mouths
These doors that I can’t face
Remind me of another life
Where I can live and dream
A life where people did not lie
Where consciences were clean
Tell me that I can return
To countries where I smile
Where sun shines down onto my back
And I don’t feel I’m on trial
Help me to survive this phase
My fate that I have sown
Working day on day non-stop
Here helpless and alone
Move my mouth and make me talk
To those who give me time
Then they won’t think I am strange
Convince themselves I’m fine
If I could then I would beg
Of you to change my path
To lay each stone the other way
To make each smile a laugh
But I know that you are not
The guardian of my plight
And I know that if you were
You’d tell me I should fight
So I’ll just carry on right here
And hope that soon we’ll see
That one fine day I’ll spread my wings
And finally be free.

Yeah, London certainly can make a person feel like this.
This is a well-crafted poem, written in the ballad form. Can I suggest you break it up into quatrains? I think it would help if you paused between verses.
