Google Worship (12th January, 2009, 9.52am)
There Is No God Greater Than The Great God Google...
Every day I pray that You will show me the way
as I offer up my incantations, the words I seek;
You hold the world colours, green and blue,
yet make all seem black and white… what’s true
and what’s a lie? You offer no judgement, only
favouritise based on the whim of a moment,
throw my prayers back at me, mostly answered
and fulfilled. You are skilled in presentation,
keeping satisfied the nations of pilgrims to Your
temple, the world wide web a promising stable
for Your newborn child; we lay him in the search
box, return him to sender, the great pretender.
Oh, I have a million questions You can’t answer,
and yet You offer me twenty thousand possible
explanations. I think You’ll save us in Your own
sweet way, minute by minute, as we dig ourselves
deeper into this selective world, hour by day.
Every day I pray that You will reveal the way;
I offer up my incantations, on chair not knees,
the posture of Your followers, worshipping screens
that bear Your name, pages in Your image, framing
Your words as we read and pray and read and pray…
