Cotton Candy Skies

from the ABC set Poems?

He wouldn't have minded
Spending forever with her.

She used to prod — inches deep
— her pain, in tissue left far behind.

It stung, now he stings deep
In her narrow tunnel, where her heart lies —

Which was once dark and dry —
And she now flies high in the skies,

Where pink cotton candy
Tastes fine when he dies.
