Today I sit and wait.
For what am I waiting?
For the NHS to get its finger out.
For someone to tell us the truth
And not waste our time.
Husband’s getting angry (again):
Half a day’s work lost in this time of austerity
Is no laughing matter.
What’s so hard about discharging a patient
With the appropriate meds?
Every single time it’s the same.
Off you go says the Doc at 10 a.m.
Oh no you don’t says the Pharmacy
You’ll go when we say so
When we can be bothered to fill your script.
Is this a tale of the tail wagging the dog?
So here once again we sit
At 6pm
Still waiting.
No wonder they call us patients.

Thanks Tina. I've wasted far too much precious living time like this these last few years. It's a situation that causes bed-blocking amongst other things and could be avoided by proper communication between wards, doctors and pharmacies - which should be open 24 hours in hospitals, not just keep office hours! Oh dear on my high horse again sorry!Linda
