A Day At War

Battles start over land and pride
soilders march and soilders ride
in their planes, tanks and cars
every man looks up to the stars
kids at home, wives on their mind
what these soilders left behind
in the battlefield they look tired and cold
all the bravery these soilders hold
they fight for their country to defend their own
leaving everything back at home
they suffer bullets, wounds and scars
all they think about is them bright yellow stars
praying to survive and keep their dreams alive
this is what will make them strive
for victory and beyond
they want peace for who they are fond
protection and honour is what they live for
bombs and granades all over the floor
they roll, they climb with the enermy behind
hoping victory is what they will find
the soilders return to wives at their door
tears fall down to the floor
no better picture will ever be seen
what that moment will forever mean

It's a beautful poem. I did try to write something like this before, but you are able to capture in such a wonderful way to express the soldiers motivations and the return back home. I think every soldier should have a copy. The spelling could do with a little tidy, and it will shine brighter that those yellow stars! Well done. x
