Stark, dark
sihouettes,
clean lines
unencumbered by decaying leaves,
delicate patterns, integration
of intertwining twigs,
no swelling bud-knobs yet,
and distinctive species-shape to each
silhouette;
a few are smudged by spheres of mistletoe:
greenish tangles, dangle, slowly grow;
and, crisply shaven hedges,
sporting, sprouting from their ridges
branches upward stretching,
waving fringe.

Fine images.
The only phrase that bothered me was 'distinctive species-outline'. Just me, probably. It's a fine poem nonetheless.

Thank you, Stan. Yes, I will think about that. I pondered it before, but the concept was part of the whole in my mind, and I left it there in the end. Thank you for commenting. Rh

Just realised I had meant to have 'species-shape'
– not probably the point you were thinking of, but changed it for now anyway! Rh
