and so many see, and are tempted to feel sure that they would do better …
Give us the power! We’ll do well for us!
We’re the individuals, we’ll clear up this mess:
the greed for faked expenses,
the fat-cat gifts and bribes,
– we only want the growth-rates that
we’ve had all through our lives.
We’ll break these institutions,
sweep out the bad and good,
the clever, and th’incompetant,
th’industrious, and corrupt,
the foolish, and the brilliant,
the slack, the slick, who suck
the life-blood from the nation,
with those who have infused
prosperity and wisdom,
when chaos had confused.
We’ll build our ivory towers,
and order you about
in ways we think are good for you,
– you may not vote us out.
We will have such a good time,
austerity we’ll shun,
we need not work too many hours,
and must have all our fun;
so, if it does’t turn out well,
and pitfalls come with fame,
we’ll have to shrug and look around
for someone else to blame.

Hi Rhiannonw,
I enjoyed reading this, it had a nice flow to it
and rhymed perfectly.
Jenny.
