Hold My Kiss

No likes yet ♦

Suddenly, out near the sky
The day is punctured by a cry
Hands and knees, burst and cut
Frightened eyes, dare not shut
Blood stains blot on bright white socks
And tears collect on curling locks
I pull you up and hold you close
We search the hurt that hurts the most

I run my thumb across your brow,
Wish I could make things better, now
Cotton clouds line up to serve
Careful, soft, I wipe and swerve
Don’t look down, look at this
Think of beaches, hold my kiss
Better now, we breathe your sigh
I promise you’ll be fine

I promise, soon you’ll be alright
Such a scare, such a fright
Wet cries are slowly slowing down
Your velvet brow has bent a frown
Smiles are coming on a spoon,
Pink sugar syrup, landing soon
My heart swells for your little face
Your buffered breath is finding pace

I promise you’ll be fine

A poem I could really identify with, Russian Doll...albeit casting my mind back many moons;-)

Very much enjoyed.

yes, nice rhythm to it, and content. My daughter (long time ago!) got to dislike the kind of pink that she felt had tried to hide unpleasant tastes, and decided she'd rather have the unpleasant tastes!

Flows very nicely, made me feel calm on this stormy day. Very well written. Enjoyed.

Thanks Rhiannonw :) Love the kid's funny quirks and how they think of things. My son was a bit freaked out once by the white calpol used in hospital - tasted the same, smelled the same but colour sooooo wrong!
