and I held a buttercup
under your chin
and asked you
the question
and as you laughed
I could see all around you
behind you above you
fields of cowslips
and primroses
and more buttercups
sunlight on your hair
and your dress
shimmering
and I wanted
to write a song
for you and I wanted
to call it Yellow

Do you know, Coral, I heard that marvellous track again, just the other night in TV's, dare I say it, 'Dancing on Ice'. They had a guy 'hand painting' in sand projected onto the ice whilst this song was playing and Torville and Dean were performing. The song has always kind of mesmerised me and this was magical.
Likewise, your poem. It is very yellow, and very beautiful;-)

Tina - Dancing on Ice was my inspiration!! The song has stayed in my head ever since and had to be dealt with...wasn't the guy brilliant with his sand drawing?
Thanks for the kind words. Coral

When I hear that song I am stuck in traffic on a ring road outside Oxford, looking for a house to rent in the summer of 2000, everytime, and again with your beautiful poem. Well done :-)

lovely poem. brings back good memories of the song too. Won't bore you with those - but will thank you for bringing them back to me! I think the style of your writing is just what i tend to look for - ie vague but detailed; not looking like it's saying much but says loads.

That's a lovely thing to say, Alice and thanks for reading too.
