She’s an expert
in cat-speak – knows
what Jess means
when he licks her
with his ‘prickly’ tongue...
can spritz the sunshine
with her churlish curls,
when she turns cartwheels
twixt the daisies
in the lawn.
Can turn a shoe-box
into a cot for her dolls...
make a wand
out of a loo-brush,
or a silver-stream
from a roll of Tesco’s
Finest Foil...
and knows exactly
when to put down
her bouncy ball –
bury her nose
in damask tipped
petals of a rose –
captured...
by the magic
of it all.

Hello Tina,
do you know, this is one of the sweetest poems you've
written, I could just see the little six year old
playing in that imaginary world, that children do
love to go into.
Yes I could really see some beautiful imagery in
this piece.
Thankyou for the read.
Jenny.

Hello there, Jenny. So pleased you enjoyed this one.
Someone once said that childhood is a place, and not a time, and I definitely agree. Have a sunny day;-)

new Silver-Spun-Sand
Really cute and lovely,
the last stanza:
and know exactly
when to put down
her bouncy ball-
bury her nose
in damask tipped
petals of a rose-
captured
by the magic
of it all.
Another gem for you.

I just love roses, don't you Pia? My favourite rose ever is Rosa Rugosa. We have a hedge of them, both ruby and white along the edge of our garden.
Pleased you enjoyed this, and I really appreciate your telling me;-)

Rachel - thanks, so very much...and now you have made me feel awfully guilty. I noticed your latest (congrats on the cherry, by the way) but I haven't had time to read it yet. It looks very interesting and don't want to rush it, so shall rectify the situation tomorrow morning;-)
In the meantime, thanks again for your lovely comment.
