from the ABC set Stories

That night they built a huge fire, they sang and
drank. The children were allowed to stay up later
than normal.

Brad talked of his adventures and talked of the Crystals he had found. The beverage made Brad loose
of tongue.

"I thought that was all private about them Crystals?" said Martha.

"Oh it be alright now," said Brad feeling merry,
"don't want to keep it to myself, now do I?"

"That be drink talk our Brad." said Martha.

"So where did you find these Crystals then Brad?"
said Gerard.

"Ain't telling," said Brad, taking another swig of
drink.

Gerard started pushing Brad, "Oh! go on, tell us."
Missy started to get upset. "Now leave Brad alone
Gerard, tell them Mam!"

"Gerard you stop questioning Brad, about where he
got them there Crystals. And Brad I don't want to
hear another word tonight about Crystals, is that
clear?"

"Sure Mam," said Brad smiling.

Martha knew a lot about the healing properties of
Crystals from her ancestors, she knew that she was
gifted like her Mother was and her Grandmother, it
was in her blood to work with them.

She had heard tales of the first Crystal coming from another world, but it was so long ago, that
nobody knew for sure if it was true, but Martha
believed it.

Her Grandmother said, it was a Crystal called
Moldavite, if placed on the forehead, crown or
throat, it aided communication with a higher self.
It was a Crystal she and her people had searched for, but never found.

The next day, Martha was the first up, she could
not sleep, she wanted to study these Crystals that
Brad had brought with him.

Martha went over to where Brad was sleeping, she
prodded him with her fingers. "Brad!...Brad! wake
up, where's those Crystals?"

"Uh-huh!" said Brad, wondering for a moment where
he was.

"No, not uh-huh! where be those Crystals?"

Brad, still fully clothed, took the Crystals
from his jacket pocket, then put them in his Mothers hands.

"Now can a man sleep off this awful hangover please?"

"Of course yea can lad," said Martha. She went over
to her wooden table, sitting on her bench, she placed the Crystals on a piece of skin, then she
studied them closely. As well as the green Crystals, there was also Amber, she knew this,
because there were transparent insects trapped inside.

This was a really good find, as it could be used to
draw disease from the body, it also aided tissue
revitalization, healed the nervous system and was
used to ease stress and neutralize negative energy.
Also to cleanse the body, mind and spirit, when
worn at the throat or wrist.

Martha wrapped the Crystals in the skin and placed
them in a wooden box, feeling very pleased with
herself, she added them to the rest of her collection.

Hi Jennifer,

Well, the plot continues to thicken with trouble brewing in the north. I like the introduction of the new character Brad in recent chapters, and I'm looking forward to learning more about Martha's skills with the crystals.

Oh, and I laughed out loud at this bit -

'The beverage made Brad loose of tongue.'

Boys and their beverages, eh? Gotta love it.

Hi Jenny, you are writing so freely now it seems you cannot stop. I think it's wonderful when you get carried along by a story you're writing. It's also wonderful when readers feel the same way as they seem to be judging by your followers. Good for you, J. I can't remember if I've asked you this before, but do you find that your characters take over the story and virtually write it themselves? It's as if they've assumed a life of their own, isn't it.

Hi sue,

do you know you are exactly right, I can actually
see the characters so well in my mind. I tend to
put the name to the face, rather than the face to
the name. Yes I agree, once you get into a story,
the characters do write themselves, and assume a
life of their own.

You know I do appreciate you taking the time to read
and comment.

It amazes me how you keep coming up with new stories,
nearly everyday.

Thanks again.

Jenny.

I really enjoyed this one, learning about all the different crystals. I have a couple of amber necklaces and I really do treasure them;-)

Hi Tina,

that's good to know you treasure your necklaces,
because they are a treasure. I just love crystals,
I collect them wherever I go, have them all over
the house, even hanging in the windows, when the
sun shines on them, you get a rainbow of colours
all around the room, it's so beautiful.

Thankyou again for your interesting comment and for
reading my story.

Jenny.
