A PATCHWORK QUILT OF MEMORIES

No likes yet ♦

Fragments of my life,
in strips of you and me,
leaving bare my life,
for all the world to see.

A reminiscent dove,
a symbol of our love,
gold and silver thread,
that joins the coverlet upon our bed.

The sun shining bright,
an incandescent light,
a trip down memory lane,
of our honeymoon in Spain.

Remembering the first night in our bed,
it was exquisite we both said,
we drank some champagne red,
the bubbles went to my head.

A strip of velvet white,
reminds me of a snowy night,
a christmas tree given to me,
lights twinkling for all the world to see.

A sleigh ride across the snow,
as we kiss under the mistletoe,
as we lie down with our cheeks aglow,
we create Christmas Angels in the snow.

A lock of hair woven,
with love intertwined,
a kiss of devotion,
to show you are mine.

And with this Patchwork Quilt,
our memories we've built,
when we get old and grey,
then memories won't fade away.

This is amazing Jennifer, and the opening stanza is truly well written.

'Fragments of my life,
in strips of you and me,
leaving bare my life,
for all the world to see.'

Well done.

Lovely with a patchwork quilt that captures all the memories of every piece of material. I can relate to this. Was very tender- loved the angels in the snow- I have done that too as an adult.
Great piece Jenn
Pia ;)

thankyou so much for your kind comment and your news.

I know what you mean about the ice, it's really the
worst I have seen in along time.

Thanks again.

skinner_jennifer | December 6, 2010 - 13:44

Hi Kahdai,

yes it would be great to make snow angels, though I
am not sure about laying in the snow, it's a bit
brrrrrrr! cold for that, my old bones wouldn't take
it.

Thanks for the comment though.

Jenny.

Kahdai | December 6, 2010 - 21:01

Yes I suppose you are right Jenny, I felt too cold and too old too x K

well-wisher | December 6, 2010 - 21:48

This is a great poem, very beautiful and I like the way you brought Christmas into it. I think the Christmas part is my favorite part because there was something very 'magical' about it. I could see the quilt; "the gold and silver thread" and "the strip of velvet white" in my head. I really think you deserve a cherry for this.

skinner_jennifer | December 7, 2010 - 17:54

Dear well-wisher,

thankyou so much for your lovely, kind comment. You
know something? I think my favourite bit is the
Christmas part too. Your kind comments are worth
more than any cherry. Thankyou again.
