Seasons Change

from the ABC set Poems

Softly as dawn breaks
by lakeside ripples mist,
an Autumn's soft release of rain
now left as Summer slumbers...

with the call of Autumn's breeze
dappled leaves of gold and brown,
with gladdened heart this harvest won,
last rays of Sun a gleam of hope begun,

as Autumn's treasures cheerfully grow...
feel the touch...a sweet caress wrapped
in Winter's ambience and lakes bitter freeze,

snow flakes fall as a feather's whisper
softly uttering whimsical cheer...we are
mesmerized as in a dream at this very
special time of year, as the seasons change.

Stunning, the line: "mesmerized as in a dream" applies to the entire piece. It reads with ease yet mesmerises the reader with wonderful imagery.

skinner_jennifer | October 3, 2011 - 14:42

Hi maggy,

that's so kind of you to say, I take it as a real

Hi Jennifer, many congrats on those little dangly red things. Well deserved. You're much more a poet than I/me. Hope the seasons continue to inspire you as much as today.

Highhat | October 3, 2011 - 19:35

Loved this one Jenny and congrats with the cherry.
It was so atmospheric and such a beautiful description of Autumn and especially winter. You made it sound all so romantic I almost looked forward to the snow! ha ah but you know me- oh so sad summer is passing but I am looking forward to Spring.

Really lovely. I cannot write descriptive poetry to save my life but Autumn is lovely & sort of pensive. You have captured this brilliantly. Very well deserved cherry.

Hi Pia,

I like the idea that you thought this sounded
romantic, it was kind of where I was going with
this one...well that and also magical, which as
you know, is how I see this time of the year.

Hope you are still getting that Sun that you
love.

Thankyou for reading and leaving such a nice
comment, always appreciated.

Hello sue,

what a lovely comment you left me, I love the idea
of being wrapped in the magic of a poem.

I just saw this magical lake and went with the idea,
kind of something ethereal came to mind.

I must get around to reading your pieces, I will I
promise.

Hope you are well and having a good week.

Thanks for reading and your amazing comment.

Hi there Overthetop1,

I don't believe for one moment you can't write good
descriptive poetry, I think if you were really to sit
down and think about it, it would come to you
eventually.

It was really kind of you to read this piece and to
let me know that you enjoyed it, I always appreciate
comments so much, they are one of the reason that I'm
encouraged to write, so thankyou again.

Hello Prettyrose,

I was over the moon with your comment and though I
really do like Shakespeare, It hadn't occurred to me
that this poem would be in his league.

Your comment is more than welcome and I really do
appreciate you reading.

I'm fine by the way, hope you are well too and having
a good week.

You keep writing and smiling too.

Jenny.
