The Angel's Silence: Part Seven

from the ABC set The Angel's Silence

Rayna did not know what to do.
She had no way of getting to the hospital.

She thought about calling someone to pick her up, but she did not have any money with her.

She had no choice, but to call some of Maya's friends and ask if they could give her a ride up there. Everyone said 'no' except for Caelia, who agreed to give her a ride there. Caelia is Maya's newest friend. She had just moved to Valle Pacifica from Sardinia two months earlier.

While they were driving, Rayna said,
"Thanks Caelia for helping me. I'm sorry you had to waste your Saturday on this."

"That is all right. I was not doing anything today anyway. Besides, Maya is my only friend here. I want to see her. She's been good to me."
replied Caelia

The ride was quiet. They did not know each other that well, and neither was sure what to say to each other.

Rayna looked at Caelia and thought to herself,
"I wish I was as beautiful as she is. Maybe people would like me more if I was."

They ran through the halls of the hospital as fast as they could. Caelia followed Rayna. They finally got to Maya's room, but she was not there. There was no sign of Dana either. They asked everyone they passed, but no one would take the time to help them. They split up.
Rayna regretted this Decision, because she was sure that Caelia would get lost, and then she would have two people to search for. However, she was wrong.
Caelia found Dana first. She recognized her because she had been to Maya's house before.

"Caelia, what are you doing here?"
asked a panicked Dana

"Rayna called me, and asked for a ride."
answered Caelia

"What is happening with Maya?"
asked Caelia

"I don't know. She was fine, and then started convulsing. Five minutes later, she had slipped into a coma."
answered Dana

Rayna continued searching everywhere for them.

Antanas had gotten so tired, that he took the wrong turn, and was leaving the city. He was unaware of this. However, he did not just feel tired, he began feeling very dizzy, and disoriented. He soon lost control of the vehicle, and it crashed into a tree. He was knocked unconscious. No one was anywhere near him, or had any idea of what had happened.
He was left to die.

Rayna was getting very frustrated looking in circles for Maya. She asked everyone that she encountered, but the answer was always the same. No one knew where she was.

Maya's throat was severally swollen, and she could not breathe. She was turning blue.
Doctor's were forced to perform a Tracheotomy on her, or she would die.

Dana and Caelia watched through a window as they cut open her throat, and placed a long tube inside.

Dana was horrified. She wanted so badly to burst through the doors, and stop the Doctor from doing that, but she knew that he had to.

"I wish my husband was here with me now. I hate having to go through this alone."
said a nervous Dana

"I will stay with you, Mrs. Alekseev."
stated Caelia

Doctor's did everything they could for Maya. The only thing that was left was just to wait for her to wake up. However, there was a big chance that she may never.

Dana was devastated. It already felt like Maya was dead.

To make things worse, both Antanas and Rayna were missing. She tried several times to call Antanas. The phone would ring, but he would not answer. She assumed he was avoiding her. Little did she know that he had been in an accident. But perhaps it was better that she did not know. The last thing she needs is her husband in the hospital.

Rayna had stepped outside to try calling her father, when she ran into her mother. She explained to her everything that was going on with Maya, and how she could not get a hold of Antanas.

Hours had passed, and Maya was showing no improvement.

It was now after 9 PM, and completely dark out.

Antanas awoke in a dimly lit house. He did not know what had happened or where he was.

He was lying on a brown sofa, covered in a white and red blanket.

"Oh, you're finally awake!"
Said a woman

He looked over, and was surprised to see that it was Elena from the café.

"What happened? How did I get here?"
asked Antanas

"Now who's the one with all the questions?"
said Elena, sarcastically

"You were in an accident. Your car was totaled, but you weren't seriously injured, fortunately."
said Elena

"I saw that you needed help, so I dragged you into my car and drove you here. You've gained weight since I saw you last, 18 years ago."

"Why didn't you just call an ambulance?"
asked Antanas

"Because I couldn't get through to them. Their lines were busy. Besides, I am a nurse in training to be a Doctor. I assessed you myself. You do have a nasty bump on your head. You can stay with me until you're feeling better."
stated Elena

"No, I can't. I have things to do. I have to get my car fixed and leave."
said Antanas

"Well, I'm afraid you're out of luck then. No place is open until Monday, and you're certainly not in driving condition."
said Elena

"You should call your wife, and tell about the accident."

"My wife? I don't have a wife."
said Antanas

"Of coarse you do. She is the one you left me for, remember? You have twin daughters."
said Elena

"I do not!"
insisted Antanas

"Why are you lying to me, Elena?"

"Oh, no. I think you may have partial amnesia. You seem to remember me. What is the last thing that you remember?"
asked Elena

"I'm not sure. I just have this feeling like I have some place important to be right now."
answered Antanas

"All right. What year is it?"
asked Elena

"What a dumb question. It is 1988."
said Antanas

"Oh, no. It seems you do not remember anything after 1988. This is bad."
stated Elena

"You said I was married with twin daughters. Tell me more about my life, please. I want to remember."
asked Antanas

"Well, I don't know much about your life after 1988. We were together, but you were secretly married. You left me once you found out your wife was pregnant, and moved to Valle Pacifica."
said Elena

"What is my wife's name?"
asked Antanas

"I don't know her name, but your daughters are named Rayna and Maya. They should be close to 18 now."
said Elena

"What do you mean, we were together? I never went out with you."
asked Antanas

"It's true. You and I were together for. You started seeing me about a year after you got married. You said that you were not happy with her."
said Elena

"This cannot be happening to me. Are you absolutely sure that you are talking to the right person? Is this some kind of sick joke?"
asked Antanas

"I'm afraid everything that I told you is the truth. We need to get you to a doctor."
said Elena

She looked out the window, and saw that a bad storm had just arrived.  She decided to brave the storm, and take Antanas to the hospital anyway.  However, there nearest one was more than two hours away.

Antanas stumbled into the back seat of Elena's vehicle.  She tried her best to get him to the hospital, but visibility was near zero.  She only got about 3216 meters, (Two miles) when she realized that there was no way she could make it to the hospital in this weather.  She managed to make it back to her home, and called the ambulance.  They told her that it would probably be a while before they could get there.

Dana was sitting in the waiting room with Caelia.
They were talking, and Rayna had fallen asleep.

"So, where are you from, Caelia?"

asked Dana

"I am from the Province of Cagliari, in Sardinia, Italy.
I just moved here with my father two months ago."

said Caelia

"Where is your mother?"

asked Dana

"I don't know.  I have not seen her since I was 8 years old.  She was a bad alcoholic, who had gotten into drugs.  She was a terrible mother.  She left my father for this Sailor.  Last I heard, they were living in Norway."

replied Caelia

"Why did you and your father decide to move here?  Had you not heard about all the murders?"

asked Dana

"No, we knew nothing about the murders.  My father was offered a nice job here, so we had to move.  Except for all the murders, I kind of like it here.  I like how everyone knows each other, and everyone is like a big family.  My father is always working, and I never had any siblings.  Your daughter has really been good to me."

Just then, a nurse came running into the waiting room.  She turned on the television.  It was a news anchor saying,

"The Valle Pacifica killer had struck again."
