The Blacksmith's Hands - Art and the Engineer

ART AND THE ENGINEER

A symphony of hammering
cold water sizzling
a craftsman’s hands
urge and forge
shapeless pig iron
into something familiar
and quite beautiful

How can such strength
brutish and heavy
fashion something
so symbolic of
warm and tender love?
Something so light
and delicate as
a single rose petal

I did enjoy this. 'cold water sizzling' seemed very onomatopoeic, somehow. You have captured concisely the whole concept of controlled strength doing something delicate. Rhiannon

Yes, all that Rhiannonw has said so eloquently and with so much insight.

All I can say is that I really enjoyed it.
