Remembering Us

from the ABC set My poems

When I hold you, I think of us
when we would laugh and giggle,
having fun in the sand,
when we see the stars.
Every sleepover,
Every smile that we shared
Holding the beads, you
Put them on the string.
This is the place where
I can be myself,
And not hold back.
During gym
Funny faces and voices
In the school, and my house.
When I got you,
I was happy like a dog
Getting a treat. You were my favorite
Stuffed animal, and I loved you
More than the others. When
She left I still had you in my arms,
It was a sign to me
She would still be with me
Wherever I was. You were like all the laughs and memories
Wrapped into one thing.
Like she was saying
I will never be too far away
I’ll be there with you.
You were there,
And that was enough.
