"The past walks among us..."

No likes yet ♦

from the ABC set What are poets for?

The past walks among us,
Lives our life for us,
Betrays the present,
Like nobles the peasant,

And strikes the day down blind.
(The grind
Of past wretchedness:
Rocks on top of sour eyes).

Lead punctuates our minds,
Where hidden truth lies
Chained and overran –
The past’s malicious plan.

Move forward look backwards –
(Make us all cowards).
Consciousness un-keen,
Happiness lies unseen.
