Story and Poem of the Week and Inspiration Point

Posted by airyfairy.

I was all set to greet you with happy things about the coming of Spring, but then the weather changed its mind again (in my neck of the woods, anyway) and so...happy Spring, Second Winter, Early Summer, whatever is the current state of affairs where you are.

Sometimes an observation of nature, an apparently simple tale of another creature finding its way through a difficult period of time, strikes a chord and sends us a message about perspective. It does us good to remember that lovely things are still happening all around us, even if we have to force ourselves to stop and look. So our Story of the Week is Ed Crane's heartwarming piece about 'The Lonely Goose on The Durme'. It will bring a much needed smile: The Lonely Goose on The Durme | ABCtales

Poem of the Week is Ewan's 'Orphic Pleasures'. I was intrigued by this, not only for its reflective, wistful tone, but also by the questions it asks about memory, and whether the sharing of it - or not - affects how we ourselves remember. It's a beautiful poem, and one which lingers long after the reading: Orphic Pleasures | ABCtales

Have a good week!
