21.30.14 Story, Poem and Inspiration Point of the Week

I’m on the edge of my seat for Wednesday – when ABCtales will be meeting at the Wheatsheaf in London for another night of poetry and prose. Readings start at 7pm and the reading list is absolutely superb – if you haven't been to a reading yet there really is nothing like hearing stuff live. I can’t wait to see you all there.

It’s been another week of high-quality writing on ABC. Our poem of the week is one of those that just blindsides you – a direct, powerful portrait of eating disorders. Canonette’s ‘00’ doesn’t mince words, and she’s created an incredible – if disturbing – psychological portrait for the modern day. Breathtaking, powerful, and painful:

Our Story of the Week shares an interest in modernity – MJG’s ‘A Look at Love’ pits photography against computer screen, and raises questions about what we value - and the images we take, share or hide away. MJG is a very talented scene-setter and you will be drawn at once into the world of Alice, a teacher tasked with displacing a group of students while OFSTED are in. What follows is riveting, original and entertaining:

And, as always, an Inspiration Point for you to break in that new pen:

I am looking forward to Wednesday. What is the nearest London Tube station to The Wheatsheaf?

I'm looking forward to it, too. The closest tube is Goodge Street, but Tottenham Court road and Warren Street aren't far off, either. See you soon!

I'm on my way soon, should get in to Waterloo Station around 6pm so I shall probably arrive at the Wheatsheaf around 6.30pm assuming I do not get lost first, always a regular setback with me not sure sometimes how I manage it. Have a quick walk around the seafront followed by a swim at the Exmouth Leisure Centre to relax - let's go, its going to be good! smiley

sadwish i was there tonight, hopefully one day and the meetings around the country can happen so i can attend. Or once a year ones so our overseas friends (if your in uk like me) can come over.

But I am sure you will all enjoy it.smiley

take care
