shooting stars at night - get outside and have a look

http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/story/0,,1842375,00.html

just been outside, and even though it's a little cloudy, you can see loads of shooting stars, beautiful, hopefully it will be a clearer night tomorrow

saturday night should be the best time to get out there apparently from the article The phenomenon manifests itself in many ways: just after sunset tomorrow, for example, is the time to spot Perseid "earthgrazers", which skim the atmosphere like a stone on a pond, leaving a longer than usual trail before they vanish back into the dark.
I can think of a few 'stars' I'd like to shoot.

Martin, Just saw the article on bbc news. There is aparently a clear spell at 10:00 tonight. I will set up my deck chair, cool the wine, and enjoy! Lisa

Look towards the west midlands, Martin, you may see alumgoon's arse shining in the moonlight.

No stars here. Cloudy up until bedtime. Then it started to rain. :(
I was hoping someone would've seen something. It was too cloudy in cheshire, north-west England.

I'm amazed that you can see anything from Clapton, with the light-pollution ...perhaps over the Hackney Marshes. I've never seen a shooting star. Patrick saw several one very cold, clear night in Ireland when we were driving back from Kilkenny. He'd stopped so that I could visit the bushes to relieve myself of many several pints of the brew named after that town. By the time I emerged, hauling my knickers back up, the spectacle (the one in the sky that is) had ended. jude "Cacoethes scribendi" http://www.judesworld.net

I've been staying at my sister's near Salisbury. Her partner came dashing in the night before last and said she'd just seen a magnificent shooting star. Unfortunately, it was all over so fast, the rest of us missed it. Cue Billy Brag...
Definitely saw them friday night, jude nothing since though
My 7 year old came running down last night all excited because she had seen a shooting star after which we all stared at the sky for the next hour, unfortunately the closest we got to seeing anything interesting was when the man next door decided to use his bathroom without closing the blinds.
