Is it not in your contract, Dan? You'd think there'd be something covering it. If you do end up paying for it, I'd suggest withholding the keys from him until he pays you back, though I'm not sure of the legality of that. ~ I'll Show You Tyrants * Fuselit * The Prowl Log * Woe's Woe
well it would be my key I'm blowed if I'm paying for a glazier, I'd sooner just nail a bit of wood over the missing pane - it's his door not mine! (although the contract needs to be renewed in a couple of months, now might not be a very good time to pick a fight)

shit, sorry to hear about the break-in dan
Cheers. It's so much our own stupid fault that it's hard not to be philosphical about it, plus I've discovered the apple US refurb store plus weak dollar means I'll be able to afford to replace the lost laptop with an better one for less than it originally cost. :) What with the lost 4k words, obligitary drowning of sorrows, running about finding a way to resecure the back door that doesn't involve pushing the fridge against it, and the achingly slow process of giving statements, I am now about five days behind. I'm sitting here with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate brownies (missing the tv program about Judes brain) doing what I can to catch up. It aint pretty.

Oh, and... policeman (with something approaching a straight face): "we can't call you victims because that would be derogatory, these days you are refered to as losers because you've lost property." housemate#1: "losers?" policeman (still with straight face): "yes"

Just got through the 45k mark. I started hating it around 30-35k and struggled up to about 41k but have flown through the last few thousand words and hope it's a clear run to the end now. I'm out tomorrow but hope to finish by midnight Sunday. Good luck all! Enzo.. Read my rubbish novel as it happens! http://somesolitude.wordpress.com/
0-35k words was a struggle, but I felt confident about reaching the goal, and, more importantly, felt the novel was something that, with a lot of post-NaNo work, could be made into something good. 35k-38k was really hard, taking up most of the day, causing stress with other people, who couldn't believe I was spending so long on it, and I no longer feel at all confident that it's something that could ever be a good story. That's the crucial factor - without the vision of some cool end result I'm ultimately aiming for, I just can't think of anything to write. ~ I'll Show You Tyrants * Fuselit * The Prowl Log * Woe's Woe

Congratulations, Ben - and with a few days to spare...
Well done Enzo. I spent the weekend struggling through the mid 30Ks, exhausted (I had other commitments which required me to stay up late and drink friday and saturday) and suffering from fear and doubt that the novel was unsalvagable rubbish. Lying in bed last night I finally decided how the plot was going to work out and resumed before work today feeling far better about the whole thing. I'm going to complete it if it kills me. One chink of light on saturday morning, apparently some fool of an editor has cherry picked one of my episodes. The same thing happened last year, one out of the whole months worth, not noticeably any better than the rest, gets a cherry - what's up with that?

i'm through 47500, should finish it tomorrow with a whole 24 hours to spare congrats enzo, the first (abc) finisher this year?
I remember those last few days from last year. It's a tense time. Well done to Enzo for finishing, good luck to the rest of you - only a day left. I might join in again next year, but I'm glad I hung back this year.
thank gawd that's over for another year 50007 words it's funny but when you get to the end, you have a brief moment of elation, then feel deflated, the journey was better than the destination still pleased as punch mind

Congrats, Martin - how are the rest of you faring?
43,168 words and taken a day off work tomorrow, priorities being what they are.

Gotta write 1800 tomorrow to finish. Fingers crossed. ~ I'll Show You Tyrants * Fuselit * The Prowl Log * Woe's Woe

Jack, you could write 1800 words in your sleep - you're home free. Maddan, you've a tougher order, but I'm sure you'll roll in on time. Considering the obsticles you've overcome, 43k is impressive.

Thanks all. Well done Martin! Jon: 1,800 words? You'll be fine! Dan: Foster's right, you've had it hardest through this. It looks like you'll finish though. Keep us posted through the day. Enzo.. Read my rubbish novel as it happens! http://somesolitude.wordpress.com/

Sorry, I forgot Brighteyes. From what JC said in an earlier post, it sounds like she's had it tough, too... Enzo.. Read my rubbish novel as it happens! http://somesolitude.wordpress.com/
"Keep us posted through the day." Very well: 47,390 words after a very productive morning. Taking a break now. It looks easy from here. I may even get to go to the pub tonight.

great last day performance dan you should make it, go to the pub after the 50k :-)
Woooo 50,322 words, some of them quite good *does a little dance* *shouts "who's the daddy"* The novel is not finished by some margin, but I feel very good about it right now and will definitely keep writing, if back somewhere closer to my usual pace.

pulled that one out of the bag, great last 2 day catch up you deserve a few pints now
I made it too, although the congratulatory message depressed me. "You've written a 50k word novel!" it said. Well, no, I haven't. I've written 50k words of unreadably fragmented scattergun drivel. If I do this again, I need to plan a whole lot better and stick to the plan. Still. Woo. ~ I'll Show You Tyrants * Fuselit * The Prowl Log * Woe's Woe
