Pigeons have a religion;
they pray for daily bread.
I see them in the park and
they have genuflecting heads.
We are the litter god to them;
the ‘great giver of crumbs'.
They hear the thunder of our shoes
and praise the rain that comes.

I really like this John. It's such a lovely musing over a part of our daily lives that we seldom give much thought.
