My missus works with deaf people with earning disabilities, Esther. One of her clients had a heart attack, and the staff overhead one of the nurses say 'he has learning difficulties, don't resuscitate, doctor's orders.' What gives them that right?

So sad but so true. You were right in your actions Esther. My lovely brother in law with MS would have died years ago if left to the hospital's mercies - his wife (with a young child) had to move into the hospital to make sure he got fed. Twenty years on, the same applied to my Dad, who tho 90 had a perfectly functioning brain but had Parkinsons and was unable to feed himself. The neglect of the elderly and disabled in hospital is shameful and criminal. Thank you for sharing your story. Linda

new Yes Esther,Linda Wigzell Cress and all,World we live in now. TLC anyone can do,must and have experiences life! Certainly Medical,nursing care and homes,any kind should be brought bang! up to date look after those in their care! All lives who or where are all precious,regardless of age! From babies up! Same me came big family of 8. But last Mum in n/home died 2004, less 5ml liquid fed, told her choice. Asked go into another room one visit,away by train see her,got there told go in another room while saw too her,gone into like a coma state,lovely mum so lively later singing enjoying life! Her screams being attended ghastly could hear,some don't like being touched. I sat by bed sung to her "love is the sweetest thing,she smile then go umm! I'd say tea reply then yes please! bless her. also saw someone waiting toilet there,fairly built lady,made her hold onto table,so fetch wheelchair! ridiculous left poor women lift up skirt,oh! dear mum died week end mine didn't take me,as at Pride friend talking how be dancing with us if there she died,that early morning. Phoned wrong number 3am,wanted another member family instead not told,had phone them find true! Family never notified me. Pop died youngest wash clean had cancer,at home stayed his wish,shop comb hair before nurse arrive,chat him,say loved us all and mum,nurse arrived by look of him said won't need last morphine Dr said tell nurse,in deep voice nurse stood in corner cried! whoops! Still things gone wrong big family,and two my darlings lives. I held my mums hand comforted her,like many can and do. Whatever live we had. Times are changing. Once she broke first hip,visited hospital Dr said so you recognize lady sitting at bottom of your be,no she said never seen her in my life,went home bus shock! saying what mum said,broke 2nd hip in n/home wait till late afternoon before then confirmed. Well it's all part of life! Sometimes get help today,mostly don't. keep smiling. Help those who are less fortunate. Mine just bought packet box marked Paracetamol,but inside nothing on them at all,What a crazy world that could be dangerous. Although married we don't always get help,they know to care do they? But can always be their for what happens to them. Lovely parents,what a life. Going be hot sun tomorrow. Take care. Never put this all on before. Two of us ill out of six. Look at elderly,left day and night,zimmer frames out some can hardly walk,chat! all being cut down financially,our needs anything must come first,all costs,seem get worse? Some don't see any one,left indoors whatever cope! Some like to be independent,cross road,and food. Our times we all did it family,aunts uncles,gave and gave love again and again,done thing,look after each! Look at kittens or cat's there content play ball of string,such a material world now? Little things that count? World be better place!! I heard laughter! in a garden great!
