Love feels time

True love knows that time is short;
That time together has to end,
That time on earth is brief,
And no second can be replaced,
Recreated or lived again.

Love knows the waste of precious time,
The sacrifice of millions of seconds to frustration,
The exhaustion of fighting the body’s will,
And the exquisite beauty when truth is lived.
-
Love feels every second of separation,
Aches through every minute and hour,
Soaks pillows with tears fueled by distance.
-
Love feels the split seconds of pain,
Each one as their dearest suffers,
Each one as they pray the pain would be done.

Each one as if it were The Self in agony,
And not the other…

This is beautiful, Shannon and very moving. I'm not always into love poems, but this one is so honest and true, it drew me in and also made me think.
