Little Red Shiny Shoes

One hot afternoon
in late July –
catches his eye –
Little Red Shiny Shoes;
lips, and hat to match,
and Titian hair.
Watches the wind
toy with her curls
coyly flirt
with her shoulders
glint gold, then bronze,
as sunlight spangles
dance and dazzle
midst sycamore leaves,
pistachio thru blue.
Then those lips
epitomise the essence
of all things unquantifiable;
savours them with his eyes
so red, so moist.
Can he ignore
their unspoken promise
as she sits – legs
a-swinging
back and forth?
Fondles a small,
yellow ball –
there, on the grass,
fallen from his grasp
beneath the swing
where she is,
legs all a-dangle.
“Mine, I believe...”
says he, kneeling down
peering up
at red lips that tease –
“and...just one lick
of your lollipop,
please?”
One hot afternoon
in late July...

Hi Tina
Hi Tina
What a lovely poem, and a good start to today. I like the pistachio leaves. Very apt.

I think this is quite chilling Tina. The comparison of the beauty with the evil thoughts of the onlooker!!
