New Dawn

"Good morning," the sun said

as you raised a hopeful head

toward the ochre horizon

in the new land of your choosing.

And in it the promise of a golden

future, and prosperous too, with

a little hard work and care things

could change for the better.

Collected thoughts exchange ideas,

make important connections,

as clouds disperse and the weather

turns, pathetic as it is, you smile

Widely, as a change has taken place,

and new pathways open themselves

to the possibility of your tread,

you step out with baited breath.

The new world unfurls slowly,

checking for errors and certainty

of movement, checking you're sure,

pushing away from the edge, into darkness.

To re-emerge victorious from life's chaos

is rare, and not to be taken lightly,

not without care, for who knows what

lies ahead, but the moment echoes awhile.
