Yellow for my daughter
I held a buttercup
under your chin
and asked you
the question..
you laughed,
and all around you
behind you above you,
I could see fields
of cowslips, primroses
and more buttercups
sunlight on your hair
your dress shimmering,
and I wanted to write
a poem for you,
about you, and call it -
yellow, yellow
for my daughter

What a lovely memory to
What a lovely memory to capture. When the sun shines we have so much yellow around at the moment, the fields of buttercups suddenly … and so many shades of yellow, some soft like the primroses, the deep yellow of the cowslips, and the shine of so many.
So sorry for your sorrow.

Beautiful and sad. Yellow, the colour of a glimpse of eternal hope. Thanks for bringing her writing to my attention, had a little look, she lives on in words. Sorry for your loss x

yellow, my favouritie colour and this is so sweet, it's right up my street. Mellow and blue it combines the colours of you.

A beautiful shiny golden poem. I'll also go and have a look at her work now. I'm so sorry for your loss Seashore, as you know. Save the angry words for another time - love trumps all the wankers in the end xx

I'm sure I remember
I'm sure I remember Overthetop1 from quite a way back.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your daughter coral. I think that your poem is a beautiful tribute to her and the colour yellow is just perfect.
May she rest in peace.
Jenny.
P.S. I looked back over my work and discovered she commented on My Christmas Mansion Mystery story. She also said she was keen on Agatha Christie novels. What a fine writer she was, a great loss.

because of your kind comment
because of your kind comment on my chapter I searched for your work to read. .but was not prepared for the sorrow I found here. Your poem is visual and captures a sunshining moment, a snapshot of your child that fills me now with overwhelming saddness and I will search now to read everything on site by Overthetop1. I know I will find a great and soulful writer there.

This lovely poem makes me
This lovely poem makes me think of my daughters when they were young too. Understated and brimming with childhood summers, this is our Facebook and twitter pick of the day.
