The Green Bowl

I found an exquisite earthenware.
It looked Greek or possibly Roman;
it was bound to be very rare.
It was unique and unlike
anything I'd previously seen.
The colour attracted me:
a deep shade of green.
Excited by what I found,
I knew I could not go wrong
especially as I was able
to purchase it for a song.
Old pottery at auctions
sold for thousands of pounds
and some went for sums
so high as to be out of bounds.
The vendor was kind to me
and offered a price reduction
saying that it was not an original
but simply a reproduction.

What is it about green bowls?
What is it about green bowls? I find them alluring too! If they are blue or red etc it's not the same, there's definitely something about green. At least, if you love it anyway it's not so bad it's worth little, as then you can keep it and use it without worryng too much

Hi Luigi,
Hi Luigi,
I too love the colour of this bowl with it's smooth glaze that brings out the green and gives it a gleam.
I used to love looking around Antique shops, charity shops, car boot sales and markets for bargains, but realize the chances of picking up anything of value is very rare indeed. Also with age I find myself down sizing rather than buying more nick nacks. But they are so beautiful to look at, as is your poem to read.
Thank you for sharing.
Jenny. xx
