He Awakens

with a growl

gives himself a shake

then launches

into the morning sun--

a woodsy jaunt should

help stir the blood

lurking in his veins.

He knows daddy follows

his shadow keeping

an eye out for danger.

The little fellow

wants to grow big

and strong like his dad

the respect others have

for him is the little

fellow’s hopeful future;

and the puppy barked

so happily.
