Strange Light
By Jane Hyphen
- 1500 reads
Strange light in the sky
And in your eyes
Listen….
Don’t stay too long
In this strange place
Where only shadows
Show themselves
To draw you in further
Beneath echo streams
Where tunes are all distorted
You hold your ears
But it’s all in your head
Voices from the future
Voices from the past
The flashing blur of now
Hold tight to nothingness
Stay still and just defer
This might not be your time
But it’s not your time to go
They’ll all wonder why they
Could not have saved you
Know…...
This light will change
Show you new things
Shadows shape-shift reveal
Imposters in the gloom
Were nothing but
But you must stay awake

we're all imposters. I think there's a medical name for it, poets.

I hope is not about someone
I hope is not about someone you know, trying to persuade someone to come back from the edge, I recognise the nightmare feeling, being outside the battle, hearing it but not being there, you evoke the desperation, anguish, it is frightening

Hi Jane, you echo the
Hi Jane, you echo the struggle some people have with their demons in this poem, that cry for help, feelings of isolation when life seems so pointless...yet I like how you describe the fact that no matter how far down in the pit life takes you, there's always a way out, someway, somehow.
A poingnant read indeed.
Jenny.
