Man Walking

moves forward slowly
in the rustling
of a March breeze
older leaves as sponges
remain on the trail
mushes each foot
carefully placed.
Sun splashes on my
forearm as
shadows move
in from the covering
of tall spruce. A
partridge whips his
staggered pace forward
as he whispers along.
Birds chirp endlessly and
from a distance
coyote voices tremble.
Loons create a
rhapsody of peace
arriving sweetly
as it straddles a current
of wind.
Just past a bend
on this trail to somewhere
I sit on a fallen tree
close my eyes
and inhale
these woodsy smells.

This is really so beautiful
This is really so beautiful it is like my granny's farm. Incredible. The atmosphere and feelings. Sounds like he is on his way out early morning to the river for fishing perhaps?
Is this in Canada? Our farm is out there east, Mpumalanga, it's more lowveld than here in Pretoria.
Cheers Richard! Tom Brown
