Capricious Satnav

We set out our route on the satnav
to travel home next day
from north-coast Pembrokeshire,
an easterly wriggly way.
Next morning as we drove along
directed as expected
I suddenly thought we’re staying on
this northward road too long.
We stopped, ‘zoomed-out’ the screen
and oh, it had completely changed our track
and now was guiding us north, then east
as the way we should go back.
It may be quicker, but was it further,
and with mountain passes steep,
had we enough ‘juice’ in our electric car,
should we do a U-turn, or keep
on this enjoyable seacoast ride
then over the mid-Wales hills
and as we’ll be passing as we drive
past the door where dear friends live
will they be hurt if we don’t ring up,
and the opportunity take?
(We trust and decide:
an enjoyable ride
fuel OK, and fellowship sweet
as delighted we meet,
and eat
together)
Is it possible to arrive
in Aberystwyth by mistake??!!
Aberystwyth is in the middle of the west coast of Wales.

An unexpected adventure. It's
An unexpected adventure. It's funny how a satnav can make us braver. It's good to know where we are especially if it's not where we expected to be.
When I lived in Wiltshire and my kids all living in Greater Manchester and Lancashire were driving down to visit me I would ask them which way they had come. They never knew. I asked if their route had taken them through Birmingham. 'It might have done. Is it quite a large town?' was a typical response.

What an interesting adventure
What an interesting adventure you had on your journey home. I wonder if you discovered some new routes while on your travels.
At least you were able to meet up with some friends which must have made it more pleasant.
Your poem had some great rhyming that fitted perfectly with what happened.
This was enjoyable read Rhiannon.

Sounds like a fabulous journey, over mountains! And then your friends, too. What a great idea for a children's story, a sat nav that sends you on fun adventures?
