Sister, you are gleaming.
That is how they know you
those little blinking minds.
They watch you fluctuate
keep time and tide by you
and know you as mother,
placated by your gaze
even as we inch away.
I do not change
as you do for them
unmapped as I am;
a constant absence.
If they found my face
shrouded as it is
would they know me
as the dark part of you?
I take no place in this candelabra;
the borrowed light bouncing
between these gaudy baubles
spares no warmth for me.
My cold world is brilliant
its marvels unending;
it does not change
as you do for them.
