Why not write about a writer suffering from permanent writer's block? Now then...... [%sig%]

Hi! I don't know about your style of writing, I'm only just finding my way around the forum. I'd like to read something about how a person - perhaps lonely - deals with ageing. Something about the quiet means they use to get through. I also find it is helpful to think of two seemingly unconnected things (I don't know, anything - a girl hearing the Beatles for the first time and a man having his house burgled) and let your mind find a way to connect the two and get your inspiration that way. David Bowie used to cut up newspapers and re-arrange the words to make new sentences. I always find that once I have a title, I can work the rest out... Good luck Aaron aaron.smith@omnetica.com

If you can't write for awhile then take a break and come back. Ya that's all I would say.

Freewrite. Just sit down and start writing and promise not to stop for at least 15 minutes. By then, you might be onto something. Or, go do something you'd never, ever do, or go somewhere you'd never, ever go, and write about that. Hopefully it'll muss up your equilibrium enough that you'll be too freaked out to be worrying about writer's block. Like that time my brother took me (his darling, innocent little sister) to a strip club... I should've written about that. Hmm. If all else fails, follow Niel Gaiman's advice. Start thinking of "What If?"s and expound. What if you bought a carniverous bouquet of tulips and they ate your cat? What if you were the writer of a "Dear Abby" column and your boyfriend/girlfriend unknowingly wrote to you for advice on how to break up with you? What if you woke up one morning with two heads... and what if nobody noticed it but you? Good luck! -Elaine.
