Strange how many
Shades of grey there are
In a black and white photograph.
Brown hair looks black,
Tanned skin, colourless
Green eyes, ashen.
My mother standing on the beach,
My father behind her.
I'm not sure what colour her dress was.
And she can't remember,
As she looks at this old photograph
I found.
She smiles.
Her green eyes reflecting
The grey eyes in the picture,
In everything but colour.
The smile is still the same.
The colour of a smile shows
Even in a black and white photograph
