The Bone Road.

Did I walk this road before and was their someone then to guide me? Memories play false; wither away at all there is left of me. In the ashes of bones my feet drag and stumble this is no game I once played. I remember¦¦¦..
Waking in the cold wet grass the warmth leeching from a body no longer there. But it was surely only a moment ago? Ancient and proud they rear up to the sky, granite stone tipped with rosy hue of dawn while the birds circle wheel and dip play truant to their master's call. Last night the white light arched from stone to stone electric sizzling in night's purple glow until the mystery became almost too much to bear ¦¦but then he called and we bowed to his sway. Now there is just a shimmering of essence ¦a spark from the waking sun and I'm blinded by the light. I remember¦.
The field of gold and red, warmth from a summer's early day ¦¦he caught me in his arms and we danced barefoot scarcely touching the loamy earth while all about the song of yearning echoed and held us in it's spell. And she was there my child of sunlight and laughter weaving in and out, keeping us grounded when the sun whirled upon her axis and we breathed in her love. I remember¦¦¦¦.
The sound of surf roaring in might against the rocky shore. The echoes lingering in ripples of harp's delight frothing around our feet while dolphins sported and whales plumes blew a foghorn bass note. And she was there my child of the sea singing the counter-point to our own glad song. Mermaids held their breathe to listen Neptune himself was rapt in awe as we called the tide to answer and the huntress moon sped across raven wings night with her chariot following on. I remember¦¦¦¦¦
The North wind carried on his back a layer of icy snow and in our crystal forest painted patterns that none had seen before. We laughed then as the West wind bore us both away for the North wind had to follow on as we led a merry dance over field and towns, he cast his wrath but we lured him to his den where rock and stone were frozen bones and no one else could dwell. And she was there my child of air she strummed her violin until the cold deep vastness shattered and freed her frozen kin. I remember¦¦¦..
Under the mountains vast I slept awaiting nature's call my roots were deep and pierced the earth unto its molten core. He stayed with me my loved one and slept the little death. I could not change the force of him he shared my own dread fate. And she was there my child of earth with a bow of burning gold she cast her arrows into craters and awoke the fiery depths. I remember¦¦¦¦.
Every living creature that walked upon the land each fowl, each fish, each bird of air some on four feet some of none and those that walked on two feet who thought their rule was absolute. And she was there my child of life who gave breath to every living thing and in our warm enchanted spell awoke the gods but also man who ruined everything. I remember¦¦.
Eons went by the two-footed ones built upon the land and held sway over every living thing and for a while this was as it was planned. Then the vice that mankind spawned poisoned everything they made, brought fire and fury crashing down stripped each of their birthright until the earth was festered and the air was cursed by death. They made a pathway of ashen bones that led from shore to shore until in brazen hatred the earth became no more. And she was there my child of wrath within her hands a scale and balanced out the good and bad of which she kept the score. And now I remember¦¦¦¦.
I have walked this road before with one to guide my way, my beloved and my child kept my footsteps strong and sure but we were then betrayed. I have walked this path before and will walk it over and over again until the time when my beloved rises from the ashes to guide me on my way.
And my child will once again be there, the force of right and wrong and maybe she will forgive at last all that went before.
