Welcome to the Magnet by Rokkitnite

I've always thought Liverpool was a crap night out. This a skilful, wordy rant by Rokkitnite that goes on a bit, but captures a desperate mood well.

Loved the Wilfred Owen references too. Every poet worth the salt should at least once in his/her musing career pay homage to "Dulce et decorum est", truly one of the finest, most evocative poems ever written. (I have twice. And once to Anthem for Doomed Youth. Massive influences for me.)

I liked your reference to "Grizzly girls from Everton". Loads of interesting metaphor which works well in a simple structure.
I just want to step in here to say that 'grizzly girls from Everton' is one of the sweetest, most gratifying flukes I have ever been handed as a poet. I'd already decided I was going to do that section as a pastiche of the Vincent Price bit in Thriller. The original line is: 'grizzly ghouls from every town'. The puns were just screaming at me. I couldn't resist.
