I stand aloof, phallic, symbolic
Untouched by prevailing winds
On headland of barren seas
Which carry the still born,
Hostile to living souls
My forehead, brazen
Flashes thrusty shafts
Stubborn in purpose,
Penetrates deep
into inky skies
On scan for able bodies
Desperate,
to court my single minded ways
From far off I am seen
Even though shrouded in darkness
A welcome rest to those foolish children,
Who scavenge the stygian heart
of my thirsty rival
Oblivious to her
scornful assaults
Persistent, I seduce
And lure to my door
Those destined folk
Survives of her terrible rage
My home is built on dangerous ground
Where many are dashed and fall
