DEATH HE CAME A CALLING

Death he came a calling
And took away my life,
He took me from my daughter and
He took me from my wife.
I had no time to tell them
I loved them, loved them so,
When Death he came a calling
And said that I must go.
Death he came a calling
I was not ready, yet
He showed me my certificate
The ink still fresh and wet.
So the life fled from my body
As it lay upon the floor,
When Death he came a calling
And showed me to the door.
Death he came a calling
And made a ghost of me,
I have unfinished business
And I cannot R-I-P.
I need to see my loved ones
For I did not say goodbye,
When Death he came a calling
And said its time to die.
So now I go a calling
I'm haunting my old haunts,
I hope one day they'll sense me
As I take my ghostly jaunts.
Once more we'll be together
If just for moments brief,
To no more go a calling
But rest in sweet relief.
